Create a new Studio project, reopen existing work, and keep project packages easy to find.
Start with a project
Everything in Studio belongs to a project. Each project is saved as a .studio package: a folder that Finder presents as a single file.
The package keeps your imported media, generated takes, timeline, captions, overlays, Elements, provider job history, and project settings together. Your provider API keys are stored separately in Keychain.
Create a project
- Choose File > New Project... or use the new-project action in the left sidebar.
- Enter a clear project name.
- Choose where to save the
.studiopackage. - Confirm the save location. Studio opens the new project in the main workspace.
Use a name you will recognize later, such as Product Demo or Summer Campaign, and keep important projects in a dedicated projects folder.
Open an existing project
- Choose File > Open Project... or use the open-project action in the left sidebar.
- Select the
.studiopackage. - Click Open.
Studio restores the project workspace, including its assets, timeline, Elements, and generation records.
Find the current project in Finder
Choose Project > Reveal Project in Finder when you need to locate the current package. This is useful before you back up, duplicate, move, or share a project.
Validate a project
Choose Project > Validate Package to check the package structure and asset references.
Run validation after:
- Moving a project to another folder, drive, or Mac.
- Receiving a project from someone else.
- Seeing a missing-media warning.
- Restoring a project from a backup.
If validation finds a missing file, check the asset shelf and replace or re-import the affected media before exporting.
Move or duplicate a project
Close the project before moving its .studio package in Finder. Move the entire package as one item, then reopen it from its new location.
To make a backup, duplicate the package in Finder and give the copy a date or version label. A complete package copy preserves the creative project, but it does not include provider keys.
Tips
- Keep active projects in one dedicated folder.
- Use descriptive names instead of leaving projects untitled.
- Reveal the package in Finder before sharing or backing it up.
- Validate a package after moving it between Macs or drives.
Watch out for
- Moving files inside a
.studiopackage can break asset references. Manage normal project content through Studio. - Sharing a project also shares its prompts, assets, timeline, Elements, and job records.
- Provider keys are not included. Anyone opening a shared project must add their own keys in Settings.
